Inside my home birth kit

I was near clueless when it came to knowing what products would be beneficial for my first birth. Sure—my birth series class informed me on clinical “must-haves”, and I know what remedies have assisted my body in the past, but we’re not talking about a headache here.

I watched videos on repeat for inspiration from trusted accounts until I felt confident in my own all-natural birth cart (not like it really mattered though, Baby Girl was coming one way or another).

I’m going to break down my thoughts on everything included (or not included) with hopes to help you find confidence in the environment you’re creating for yourself.

Reminder: every birth is unique — take what resonates with you.

NOURISHMENT

Honey Packs - instant energy and easy to eat anywhere (even the shower!)
Bone Broth - warming, especially pleasant immediately after giving birth
Coconut Water - natural electrolyte and source of micronutrients
Minerals - added to filtered water

WELLNESS / SUPPORT

Essential Oil - I didn’t end up using what I had in my birth kit (didn’t have the energy to even think about them), but my doula used her own rollers
Propolis Immune Support - keep the immune system strong
NET Pain Relief Spray - used when pain started to intensify
Homeopathic Remedies - (Aconitum, Arnica, Bryonia, Hamamelis virginiana, Pulsatilla)
After Ease - I swear by this herbal tincture and consumed immediately after giving birth

PERSONAL CARE

Disposable Underwear + Pads
Bed Pads

ITEMS I DID NOT HAVE

(doula to the rescue!)

Massager - I felt my contractions in my lower back, a massager helped alleviate the pain
Lights - these weren’t a “must-have”, but they helped create a calming environment
Playlist - I skipped this knowing that calming music wouldn’t benefit me, but my doula played meditation tracks from the BrainTap App and listening to it helped get me through each contraction while laboring in bed
